Is there a quintet transcription of Mozart’s Grand Partita KV 316 (Serenade No. 10). I know that the Finale movemenmt has been transcribed (Pub. by Medici) but would like to know if any of the others are available. Especially the Adagio. Anyone know of a worthy candidate??
Also there is a wonderful version of the 11th Serenade out that is pub by Billaudot. Thanks Bob

there's an Octet version published by Dobblinger
The editor claims that the octet was the original and that the version for 13 instruments is weak by comparison. He (the editor) doesn't seem to like the basset horns.
The octet leaves out some juicy sections - it's not at all superior to the Gran Partita for 13, but it's still great to play if all you have is a woodwind octet and you've already played through the other Mozart Serenades.
I don't know about a quintet version. Seems like that would be a catastrophe (speaking as a basset horn player).

considering that there are arrangements of Beethoven symphonies for two clarinets, a Trio or Quintet version of the Gran Partita would not be impossible (but ideal?).
