Is there anybody of you who mused about whether there is an architectural respresentation of her/his music either performed or composed, and why it is what it is?
For me it´s the Walled City, Kowloon, in Hongkong, demolished since 1997: a crammed place, a hive, a realisation of verticality, heterogenity, nomadic being, dense and incredibly differentiated, wildy complex and instabile.

For me it is the tunnel dug by hand at the beach. Your child begs you to build a tunnel with the goal of having both hands touch in the middle. You resist, but end up starting one side of the tunnel - the work is painful, grains of sand scratching into and under your finger nails; the arms and back ache. The child barely makes progress, and you end up digging her end of the tunnel, only adding to the pain and discomfort. Finally, after fearing that both ends of the tunnel are at different depths and never going to meet, you sense a breakthrough and call over the child, who has in the meantime gone off to search for sea shells. She reaches her little arm in; you reach yours in; and the finger tips finally meet in a wiggling greeting. Then its over, the child moves on to other endeavors, your hands, arm and back are sore; the tide comes up and washes everything away.

A Wal-Mart after a major earthquake. A glorified hodge-podge of miscellaneous crap, often recognizable and kitschy, that each claims to be incredibly important. All the while, this horrific disaster may come with a cynical edge of poetic justice. Makes no claims whatsoever at being art, but might just come off as really cool with a certain mindset.
