 Solo in DFW

I began playing the clarinet when I was in the 6th grade. Ever since then I fell in love with playing. Unexpected situations came about when I was 18 and I stopped playing. Well, now at 23 I started practicing again but I've found myself alone. I wanted to see if someone could tell me about a place or places where I could go and get together with other woodwind players. Thanx and any suggestions are appreciated.

Search/post on http://dallas.craigslist.org. Also, check w. local music stores and college music department bulletin boards and instructors who may know about community bands or other interested parties.

Heres a partial list in the DFW area.

I'll not post the comments i sent Sonia about my opinion of the quality of the various groups email me offline of you want those nsho's.

I and several other posters here play with the Plano band

Plano Community Band

So I of course feel thats the best one locally :)

Several of my friends play with the Richardson and Frisco bands.
And I went to school for a year with the conductor of the Carrollton band.

In addition, Texas Christian University in Fort Worth sponsors a community band, a small one, email me if intersted I'll try and get a contact name.

There are many others in the DFW area, this is only a partial list.

Frisco Community Band

Richardson Community Band

Carrollton Community Band

Town North Concert Band

Arlington Community Band

Irving Symphonic Band

Metropolitan Winds

There used to be a Fort Worth City Band, I can no longer find their web page, not sure it they still exist or not.

You may also want to register with the Amateur Chamber Music Players at: http://www.acmp.net/

It's a directory of musicians, mostly strings, but also many wind players. The idea is that members can use the directory to contact fellow musicians in their area or when traveling to other cities to get together and play music.
