 vintage selmer clarinet

I've recently purchased a new (to me) model 55 Selmer from 1945 at what I believe to be a good price. It has been overhauled, and is in great working condition. My question concerns intonation. I find myself to be sharp in all ranges until I pull out the barrel app. 2-3 mm. It is a relatively short barrel (64mm). This does the trick for most notes, but not all (especially high C, although D and E are fine). Should I consider a different barrel? I use a Vandoren B45 mp and Mitchell Lurie 3 1/2 reeds. My previous experience for many years is on an Evette Schaefer Academy (Buffet). I am a novice playing 2nd clarinet in a community band, and 1st in a large adult marching band (although I think I'll stick with plastic for that!).

The 64mm barrel was standard for the vintage Selmer clarinet that you have. The upper joint was made slightly longer to compensate for the shorter barrel. Selmer also made a 62mm and 66mm barrel as an aftermarket item for those who need adjustment to the standard 64mm. Also, a lot has to do with mouthpieces and reed combinations on the clarinet. You might try a more close mouthpiece with a little harder reed to compensate for you pitch being flat. Be sure and use tuning rings if you have to pull out as far as you described or you'll find the pitch in the clarion and altissimo register unweildy do to the air disturbance between the barrel and the upper joint.
