By way of promised response to a previous thread, without plowing through all the prior responses...
I tried two 'cross' fingerings on the Simple System clarinet this afternoon. The first space F, normally Txoo|ooo/with side 'trill' key -- fingered Toxo|ooo is really stuffy, almost too stuffy to 'live with it' :|
Above staff Ab to Bb: T(R)oo[sliver]o|ooo to T(R)oxo|ooo is 'passable' but not not 'easy listenin' ' by a long shot :(
sooo... it seems that "Simple Sis" likes one set of fingerings and not much of anything else -- strictly a No Frills horn. I'm used to not trying alternates with the SS so it seems normal not to use any. She's a fun horn, sounds nice tonewise, but just not enthusiastic about playing "Flight of the Bumblebee" any time soon

Out of curiousity, did you play around with variations of the first fingering?
For instance,
Toxx|ooo or Tox'o|ooo ( ' = sliver key)
Just curious if maybe more venting might help that stuffiness and then you'll have an alternate way to play if you wanted!

I haven't tried that on the Simple System yet, Alexi, but... (yeah! ) on the Albert, Tox'o|ooo work great! I'd overlooked that one for whatever reason... old dog, old tricks, I guess. Or, just old age laziness. But, yeah, thank you, that's a good fingering. That little extra venting helps a lot, brings it right up to pitch.
(Now I've learned TWO things today. My student showed me high D using R/T[Ab/G#]ooo|ooo ) what a wonderful day....
