I was given my Dad's old clarinet, it is a Boosey and Hawkes Symphony 1010 Bb Clarinet. I think it is about 50 years old? the serial no starts with 482.
Okay, I think I worded my last post the wrong way. I now have a newer Buffet and wanted to know how much the Boosey & Hawkes was worth. My father passed away, and I didn't know what to do with his clarinet.

Why not post it in the classifieds, right here?
I, for one, would love to own one of these "old ladies"...

Fiona,
I grew up playing a 1010 and still have it some 40 years later. From what I have been able to discover, I think it is fair to say that although the 1010 was the professional clarinet of choice in Britain for several decades, it had a more limited following in Commonwealth countries and was never popular in the U.S. I know there are a few professionals who still play on 1010s, but I think you will have to market the clarinet to collectors. As SB's post indicates, the Classifieds section on this BB is a good place to advertize because you can reach an international audience. There is also a fairly steady market for 1010s in Britain. Check out the second hand instruments section at http://www.howarth.uk.com, and have a look at http://www.musicalinstrumentsales.co.uk.
