I did a search on this, but didn't find anything.
I'm curious as to the seating arrangement for string quintet pieces with clarinet. I've tried the position which is like a WW quintet, and the clarinet sits in the back where the horn would.
I believe a position that would make more sense is if the clarinet sat directly across from the 1st violin, in the front, so there is better communication between the ensemble members. Having the clarinet player in the back seems to isolate him/her.
So this is what the current setup looks like, with cello not in a line with the violins, but centered in between (bboard doesn't show tabs).

Any ideas/ thought?

Is the stand light in front of the face obligatory?
