Hey guys
Just wondering where you have found is the best place to order the Kooiman thumb rest online in terms of shipping and whether they have all the colours in stock (I want yellow!).
Thanks guys, really looking forward to trying this thing out! Hope it's as good as everyone says it is!

There's no best - it's who has what you want in stock. We all know the names

Real helpful. I obviously don't "know the names".

Well, I'm not a pro but at http://www.tonkooiman.com/fr%20TK%20ergonomics.htm they indicate that the dealers in the US are "the Selmer Company, Elkhart, Ind. and OboeStuff LLC in Laurel Md."

My favorite store has them at http://www.music123.com/Ton-Kooiman-Professional-Thumb-Rest-i80645.music but I only see silver and for $165. Man, that's a lot of ice cream.

I looked at that silver one, and I don't know what part of it is yellow in the one you want, but it's had to imagine something uglier than that.

clarinbass, the one you're thinking of is the 'Maestro'. The one I want is the 'Etude' and is plastic so comes in a variety of colours.

Doesn't really matter what it looks like, if it helps, it helps.

LeWhite,

I've got the Maestro installed on my clarinet and am still VERY satisfied with it. You can order them at the any of the shops mentioned on the website:
http://www.tonkooiman.com/fr%20Dealers%20pag%20.htm

I hope that you find the yellow Etude thumbrest, have fun with it ;)

International Music Suppliers (IMS) - I got one for a student from them at ClarFest

Muncy Winds

Woodwind Brasswind

Weiner Music

are 4 sources that carry the etude

I think that the Maestro has several different adjustment points and that's why it looks "out there". The Etude (student model) is much more simple and doesn't "look bad" at all.

My student likes it - you may have to get your screw holes drilled slightly to fit the screws (depends).

Right, I agree it doesn't matter what it looks like if it helps. I didn't mean the thumb rest is ugly, all I meant is that if you can choose a colour, yellow is as ugly as you can get for a clarinet thumbrest.

Is it a light yellow amber, a banana yellow, or a medium yellowish amber with an olive tint?

;)

OMG Like who cares? No-one will ever have to see it except me and maybe people sitting side-on!

But does the yellow one give you as nice of a tone as a blue one? I'm telling you, BLUE makes you sound just like Charles Niedich.
