I am trying to regain my embouchure after a long season of marching band. Can anyone help? Our group is now starting concert music and my sound is not what is used to be.
Thanks for the help!

Poopsie-- One thing that might be going on with your embouchure is that you got used to using your jaw to keep the clarinet from moving around so much as you march and play. Be aware of clamping down, since you should be able to move the instrument around a bit after you form your embouchure. Also, you may have gotten used to a "spready" sound and may be using a wide airstream. Try focusing your sound with a smaller but intense airstream at a soft volume level. It might be good to try some long tones starting pianissimo and crescendoing, listening for "spreadiness" or brassyness as you get louder, then decrescendoing again trying to keep the intensity to the sound as you get softer.

[ To all - rather than continue the misspelling, it would be far more helpful to just correct the spelling in the subject title of your replies - GBK ]

poopsie....when you play in a marching band you can't really hear how you sound and you need to hear how you sound in order to play in tune. Additionally , playing out of doors makes you sound different. Plus other factors including those mentioned above. Practice long notes with a pitch meter indoors and it will come back. (Valid point GBK)
