As I previously posted, I got a Leblanc Symphonie 3 a couple of weeks ago. It came from Arizona with loose barrel and bell rings. Although the barrel rings were a bit tighter, I put a cigarette paper shim today to increase support. The bell decorative ring is still loose, but not loose enough to take it off and do something to it... Guess have to wait to get more moisture into it...
Took if for a 5 minute "test drive" today. It has a beautiful sound, and in particular I noticed that the throat tones are less "stuffy" than my primary clarinet, a Noblet 45. Keywork is excellent, fast and well regulated, except for the E/F lever pin, that is noisy because of a missing fish skin (which I ignorantly pulled out while inspecting it on arrival...).
I read that the Symphonie 3 has nickel plated keys while the Symphonie II has unplated german silver, but this one does look like it is unplated as well. Anyone knows if some early "3" were made that way?
I believe at this stage it is a better instrument than my Noblet 45. And I saw another one being sold at twice what I paid, similar shape but no mouthpiece (I got a Selmer HS** and a Vandoren B46, both in excellent shape and re-corked, the clarinet also has brand new pads, tenon corks and key corks), so I am a happy camper :-).
The loose bell ring vibrates in some tones. Still do not have a clear picture on how to avoid it until (hopefully) humidity locks it again.

Add 3-4 drops of instant adhesives to fasten the rings.
I will be receiving a Symphonie 3 in a month so I will chime in later.
