Well, if it only took 5 minutes a day, anyone could do it. Think about it.

See also a very valuable article at http://www.lawrence.edu/dept/conservatory/studio/oboe/Practice.shtml, which describes what you do in the practice room and how to divide your gtime. It's by an oboe prof, so you'll spend less time on reeds than he recommends, but otherwise it's pure gold for every instrument.

Best regards.

1) Vade-Mecum du Clarinettiste by Paul Jeanjean

2) Modern Daily Studies - (Book 1) by Kalmen Opperman

Both of these books are very good choices, and work-strengthen both hands. v/r Ken

Many books out there. Baermann III is considered "the bible". Best to have a teacher work with you in conjunction with the books. No sense in spending all that time and energy buried into the books and develop undersirable traits (posture, tenseness, poor embouchure, biting, etc). A good teacher will observe these and offer suggestions to help you overcome these obstacles so that you can succeed.
