I played the clarinet for a year when I was a kid, but that was about fifteen years ago. I was recently inspired to take it up again, but I have NO idea what I'm doing. Really, no clue - I have a basic idea of where my fingers go and I remembered how to put it together and clean it, but that's about all. I've gotten a few suggestions for books and websites to check out, but I'd really like to find a teacher. I'm not sure I can afford weekly lessons, but I'd like to find someone I can check in with every couple of weeks, someone who is used to dealing with beginners and can help me with basic exercises and make sure I don't develop bad habits. I am almost exclusively interested in playing ethnic music, so I'd prefer a teacher familiar with such. I've been looking online for teacher listings, but haven't found anything. I hope it's ok to ask this here.
I'm looking for someone in the San Francisco bay area. I live in Redwood City and would prefer someone closer to home, but would consider anyone on this side of the bay between San Jose and San Francisco.
Thanks for any help you can offer!
