I'm also trying to find information about Jean Cartier clarinets and so far have come up empty-handed, but I can tell you what little I know based on three Cartier instruments I've recently restored. Two were "14-K" models, and I'd say that this was their student line -- they seem to play pretty well, but the construction and workmanship is somewhat 'economy-minded'. I just finished restoring an "Artiste" model, and I'd say it's definitely professional-grade based on its playing qualities, construction and workmanship. I don't know the manufacture dates of the three Jean Cartiers I've got, but they came with the original cases, which are look to me like the style of the 1940s-1950s (rounded, molded plastic case in a light pastel blue, with brass nameplate). Afraid that's all I know at the moment!

Our local music store has an older Cart. Cl, which looked like a good one to me earlier, much like my Thibouville which I have greatly improved. The C is now in for overhaul in Tulsa, so I cant give you any more info at this time. C is not listed as a maker by Rendall, perhaps Mark C can look in Langwill for you. Might be a goodie! Don
