Author: Aussie Nick  Date:   2004-08-02 15:23 Hey guys. Well I got some stuff done by a tech to my new RC Prestiges, and I was asked to report back as to what I did. The low D's on both were dull and so the tone hole was opened up a little bit. The low C's were a bit fuzzy on both as well and so we raised the rings on the lower joint and changed the pad. On the Bb clarinet, the upper clarion A and B were extremely sharp, whilst minus the register key the D and E were borderline flat. Same on the A clarinet except it was more clarion G and G# causing the problem. Apart from inserting the tiniest amounts of blue tac into one or two holes and smoothing it out, what else did we do? Well I asked him if we could experiment by putting the register vent tubes of my older Festivals into the new prestiges. It was to both our disbelief that the 12ths were actually improved. On the A clarinet in particular, the G and G# (and low C C#) were quite significantly improved, whilst on the Bb clarinet, the upper clarion B became just that little bit easier to play close to A440. Both instruments are now that much more enjoyable to play
