I've just picked up an upper and lower joint of what appears to be a Leblanc student Bb clarinet. However, it has no barrel or horn, so there are no logos/stencils and nothing in the area between the G#/A keys and the top tenon. The only marking is the serial number "j 3429" on both joints. The trill keys are typical Leblanc/Normandy straight "jumps" and the surface is brushed/dull plastic. Any suggestions?
Thanks.
Bob

Bob - I believe you answered your question, the only maker with the jump trill keys is LeBlanc. I've seen some of their "bottom-line" student models with nearly no ID, maybe Kenosha [WI] or a Vito-lyre design, the ser #'s are a plus !! To get a barrel and ?bell?, go to a repairer, in his/hers junk box, try for correct size, many plastics are discarded due to middle or bottom tenon breakage and cost of repair. Luck, Don
Thanx, Mark, Don

Yeh, the eBay seller called it a horn too.....geez, it's called a bell, not a horn. The logo is probably there, put on your stronger glasses. It's probably one of the 7214/V40 prototypes ....at least the top section. Who knows what the bottom section is!

Could it be a "Jeffery"? These were made by LeBlanc.

Actually, other companies are using the "jump" keys. Ridenour's TR147 has jump keys and I recently saw a Buffet Eb with that style of keys. So, don't assume any clarinet with jump keys is a Leblanc.
