Does anyone know about the trio for violin, clarinet and piano'? Also, what's a good edition to use for this work.
thanks

It's a great piece! You can listen to samples (with a very fine clarinetist ;-)) at:

I discovered this work recently on a CD I found in a charity shop - mine is an Antes Edition ("ist ein Label der BELLA MUSICA Tontrager GbmH"), Klarinettentrios (Bartok, Berg, Milhaud, Chatschaturjan (didn't recognise the name at first!) 1996. Karl Schelecta on clarinet. Yeah, I love this piece - best thing on the CD.

larry, justwanna and ken
thanks for your input.
The Armenians are a wonderful people who are, sometimes, passionately anti-Russian in my experience ... but let's not enter into ethnic debates here!! Nevertheless ... Khachaturian is the only Armenian composer I can name I hate to admit.

Ohhh I love the Khachaturian! It's great if you get a good pianist! Even better if you have a good violinist as well! LOL.
When I did it, working through just HOW to count some areas of the second movement came up as a bit of a barrier, as everyone seems to just want to do their own thing sometimes.

diz...
Hovhaness is Armenian (or is it Armenian-American?)...his original last name was Hovhanessian.

LeWhite ... I can't wait to get a recording of it and buy the music. I'll be down in Melbourne on the weekend (12th / 13th June). So a visit to Fine music (McKillop St?) is a must ... can't wait.
And I just remembered another very famous Armenian composer: Cher.
Without music, the world would be grey, very grey.
