 clarinet bag

I am looking for a bag (kind of a side bag) to carry my clarinet and items in. Does anyone know of a good brand or type that can carry a decent amount of things and still be small enough to pack around all the time?
Thanks a lot!

i have a pretty good bag (the main section is just big enough to fit my double attache case) and has several other compartments to fit sheet music, books, reeds, tuner, metronome, etc........

brand, swiss army? or something like that, it has the swiss army symbol on it(that being a white cross with red brackground, i.e. the inverse of something like a health cross that ud see on an ambulance)

i don't know how expensive, but if its 50 bucks or under, its worth it, and protects my leather case, prolly the main reason why i got a bag/case for it

Altieri case covers fit standard cases. See, for example, http://www.music123.com/Altieri-Clarinet-Bags-i79604.music. A Google search on Altieri and cover retrieves many other sources. They're not cheap (a bit over $100), but they're well made. I have one with gigantic expanding pockets on both sides for music, a stand, a light, reedworking materials and the kitchen sink. The only real problem is that all that stuff quickly gets too heavy to carry.

Jean Cavallaro http://www.cavallarocasecovers.com/ makes excellent fleece-padded case covers designed to fit most common cases, and will make a cover to measure from a traced outline. They're about the same price as Altieri. Almost all custom recorder makers have switched from hard cases to Cavallaro bags.

For something unique, any upholsterer can make a cover to measure out of, say, corduroy, or silk paisley over canvas, with as many pockets as you like.

Best regards.

I got my Wenger (maker of swiss army knives) computer case from Staples for 14.99 after two rebates. It's a simple 'briefcase' style bag. But it is large enough to hold my clarinet IN it's case, any size music or music portfolio I have (I currently have in there a few music books that I bring around with the clarinet), all my reeds, some basic tools, tons of pen slots (since it was originally meant as briefcase), has a comfortable strap to sling over my shoulder and a nice soft handle in case I decide to just hold it in the hand. And there are TONS of compartments to customize what goes where. It's also a "flapover" (not closed with ONLY a zipper on top) which means that when it's raining or drizzling, nothing inside will get wet anyway.

Once again, 14.99.

It was one of those "necessity is the mother of invention" situations. I don't feel it's necessary to spend so much money on an actual "clarinet case" when a decently sized soft briefcase will do the job.

If you DO have the money though . . .

The Olathe Carrybag (w/single or double zippers) is very excellent, study, impervious to elements & reasonably priced. Muncy, Weiner, IMS, etc. or buy direct from Olathe.
