My wife has Cavalier Clarinet made in Elkhart, In in the 30's or 40's. It is in fair condition. She played in high school in the 50's. She would like to know about the value of it would be.

Antique stores, etc sell them for $75 or less. On the online auctions, they go for around $50 or less depending on condition. Occasionally they go for a little more if in perfect playing condition.

The prices Dee cites are about the same range as what I've seen in the Washington, D.C. area. Cavalier was a student brand made by Conn.

price = $0 to $39.99 12

Many of these did not meet the reserves, but
plenty of horns changed hands for under $50.
One seller swore that the instrument had been restored
and played well. Of the other 96, chances are only
one or two would play out of the box and all would need
pads, cork, springs, cleaning, etc to be in good playing
condition.

How come all the extra spaces get stripped out when I post.
I tried to use spaces to put numbers in columns. Last time I figured it was just that the tab stops didn't post but this time I used actual spaces. The only reason I reposted the data rather than simply showing a bookmark was that I didn't like the way the posting looked. Well, it is better this time. Not a problem, just a question.

<br>The rules of html - all spaces & tabs end up as one space - they're collapsed. You can write to get a non-collapsing, non-breaking space, but even then there's no guarantee that the text will be in a mono-spaced font. You can also use <PRE> </PRE> tags to surround something you don't want reformatted.
