 Rhapsody in Blue sheet music
Author: obtuse

I've been googling all over the place looking for the orchestral version of Rhapsody in Blue, but the only information I've been able to find for it is that there's a condensed version in the 2nd clarinet solos book, and Kalman Bloch's book, and I'm really intereste in having (and of course, playing) the entire piece.

If I understood correctly from my search here, it wouldn't be possibe for me to get a copy of the piece becaus it is no longer being printed? But it's possible for me to rent the sheet music for the entire orchestration?

If that's so, whom exactly should I contact in order to get my hands on this piece? Is there some specific organization I can E-mail or call that is renting/selling it?

Good luck with your efforts to get the parts. It is certainly a wonderful piece to play. As I recall, one slight misprint in the introductory solo. All three of the trills should be a half-step. If I remember correctly, the third one that starts on G shows no indication of being a half-step trill. Be sure to listen to various recordings, as nearly everyone has their own unique ideas (and rightly so) on how to play it with an early jazz flavor!

Our community band is practicing Rhapsody now to accompany a very gifted 18 year old pianist exchange student from Kazakhstan. What a treat!

BG ... The last time I did Rhapsody in Blue the G5 trill did have a flat written over the note and it seemed to look original.

But, thinking back, it is possible that one of the players before me could have written it in very neatly...GBK

I don't understand the inability to purchase the score....can someone educate me? Gershwin is always a pleasure and refreshing to play for me. We are currently playing the Porgy and Bess selections by Bennett.....love it.
