I came across a Selmer leather case with zippers that really looks good on the outside, but is slightly deteriorated on the inside. Mostly where the lining has been worn off or stained i certain areas.
Rather than trash the case I'd like to get it relined; i.e., having the velvet replaced. Does anyone know where such a thing might be done? I have no desire to perform this restoration myself.

Try a local furniture, luggage, or shoe repair shop. Make sure the repair person understands that the horn must fit into the forms with minimal allowance for slack. The thickness of the lining must also be pretty close to the newest looking section of your existing lining. No shag or tile lining, of course.

You can purchase the fabric yourself directly from the fabric store. This way you can choose the color and fabric you want. If you do this, make sure you buy enough for the repair person to work with.

FWIW - I hear ya, Andrew. Its nice to have a vintage instrument "keep company" with the case that was made for it. Fabric is one thing, break down of the form itself is another separate issue to examine. Selmer sells a soft case for around $50-55 i think. The Protec is available all over (including eBay regularly) for $49 - 55. The leather on the outside of the Orangish zippered (Selmer C/T) or Grayish zippered (Series 9) is a completely separate matter. I have (hot) reglued, as opposed to taking to the shoe repair where it could be resewn. My judgement was that resewing my present some harm to leather that had softened with age. However, I understand from my wife (who works regularly with fabrics & leather) that most hot glue mixtures have "MEMORY". She says that after about 1 year, they start to "forget". Good luck. mw
PS Gray zippered cases from the Selmer 9's seem to have lasted better IMO than orangish zippered C/T cases due to less material in strips & layers (ie PIECES to come undone) & of course, they haven't been around as long as the C/T's.
