Hello, Can anyone out there name the broadway (hit) shows that feature the Clarinet....a lot! I'm talking from the days of George M.Cohan to today. Thank you,
Sherrie

One that has a great part (though not a musical I like particularly) is Fiddler, probably one of the best broadway clarinet parts.

It's a cheesy show but the Shriner's Ballet from Bye Bye Birdie has a very large clarinet solo. It's sort of the cheap cousin to Fiddler's Bottle Dance.
West Side Story also has a great clarinet part.

My Fair Lady
Listen to both the original cast album from B-way and the Movie (which might be M. Lurie)

"Rags" - Some great written out clarinet solos in a jazz vein - one in particular going up to a high B6! ...GBK

Fiddler on the roof is an awesome one for the clarinet part! ive actually played it, and playing that cadenza at age 15 was definately one of the scariest things ive evr done! fun looking back on it tho
