Has anybody around here any compositions by Anthony Braxton? His secretary keeps suggesting that I contact him by mail, which I did, so far no answers. Are Braxton´s compositions published in any way? I always just get the info that his catalogue of works is to be published sooner or later, but to no avail, and nothing is to be found of his works, just those bits in "Composition Notes" (which I own already).
Next question: "The Cliff" by this astonishing trio "New Winds" - is it possible to buy this Cd still anywheres? So far I´ve searched for it without success.
Thank You very much for any helpful advice on this -
Markus

Re: the Cliff--you should contact the folks at the Downtown Music Gallery (www.dtmgallery.com) or do a music search on www.cadencebuilding.com. The album is out of print and on an obscure label to begin with, but those are the two places I know of that might have copies.
It's a shame that Braxton's music isn't more widely available for study. I remember reading that there were several volumes of music/writings avaiable from a publishing company called Frog Peak (or something like that) but that's probably what you have already.

You´re correct, Chris, those I have already - and they´re fantastic stuff to read, very instructive, they´re copied typoscripts, published by "Frog Peak Music". And yes, it is a crying shame that the compositions of such an outstanding composer and performer aren´t published nowadays, but the i dunno what -th edition of the Complete Brahms or stuff like this.
I will try "cadencebuilding" and this "downtown Music Gallery", pray it will work! Those three of "New Winds" - they are incredible artist, true masters of all those tubes they blow into, aren´t they?! have You ever tried to play "Le Chute D´Icare" by Ferneyhough? It´s maddeningly difficult and wonderful stuff, and it was written for and premiered by Parran, I´d love to have a recording of this piece. And Rothenberg´s solo-recordings shpuld be a must for every contemporary woodwindplayer, don´t You think?!
