Anyone know a good place that I could buy one from?
The Conservatory 9k Aurumite Handmade in particular.

Very interesting that you pick this topic because I just did all of this. I bought a powell handmade Conservatory Arumite.
Was rather pointless considering that i am a clarinet major but I have always loved the flute, played it well so I wanted it. haha
www.fluteworld.com is a very popular choice.. they prices are moderately good. JL Smith Company is pretty good, their prices are at retail so be prepared.
Now if you want a killer deal then consider just getting a sterling silver flute, they are also fantastic instruments that are just as good as the arumite. Wichita band instruments can sell it to you for 5000 vers 6400 at the other places.
Take advantage of the fact that they will let you exchange the head for up to one year. They generally come with boston heads but some people like the philharmonic... Boston to me seems to have more flexibility and more tone colors to offer.
good luck on buying a powell, they are such fantastic pieces of art.
