Hello their, I somehow stumbled across these boards today when i was doing some searches on Clarinets and Music. I have now spent the past 4 hours reading through posts after posts and am so happy to have found a great board like this. I usually dont post a whole lot, but i read a ton and get a lot of information out of these. I am amazed at the wealth of information that is here. I played clarinet in highschool and stopped when i got married a bit early. I am now working as a Chef at a restaurant in Scottsdale, AZ. I have always loved the clarinet but had to sell my old one a while back, I am now going to be purchasing a new Clarinet within the next couple weeks and am really excited. I have been playing on a friends really old and cracked clarinet to get back into the swing of things, but cant wait for my new clarinet. I have been reading through all the posts here, and have decided on purchasing a E-11 Buffet off of Ebay. I found a new one their for about $579, which isnt a bad price at all. Of course someone went and bought it before i could, but their are a few other that i am watching on their to be sure that i am getting the best deal possible. A friend of mine has one, and i was simply amazed at the tone and quality when he played, was beautiful.
Just wanted to say hi and let you know you guys are really great, and keep these boards up and running.

Hi Terrell,
Welcome to the BB. I'm sure you will get very good service from the E-11 but don't ignore older Selmer or Leblanc clarinets out there and Yamaha makes very good clarinets as well.

Maldran,
FWIW, the current price for a new E11 at the Woodwind and Brasswind,
http://www.wwbw.com
is about $580 plus shipping -- and you will have a large reputable dealer to stand behind the sale. Armed with that price, you might be able to negotiate a similar deal locally if there is a good sized store in or near Scottsdale.
(I have no financial interest in WW&BW.)
Best regards,
jnk

I think quite a few places sell the E11 at that price. I just saw it at
Muncy Winds for $579 too.
http://www.muncywinds.com
I haven't bought anything from them before though...
(and I'm not related to the shop in any way too)

HI Terrell,
Try American Music on Bell and about 27th Ave....I bet they would meet or beat other's prices, and then you don't have to worry about shipping through the mail, or waiting...and they have lots of instuments in the store to try.
