Someone, you have the school authorities send it to their local repairman for correction. It's all part of your taxes.

Bob A says it OK, BUT, I'd suggest taking it to a GOOD Bass cl repairperson YOURSELF and ask to observe what he/she does, so you can learn to do the adjustment yourself as needed in the future. Learning the mechanics of a horn's keywork is a requirement in my book. Don

Thanx, Mark, Don

Well, Don lives in "never-never land". Me? I live in Rural Iowa. He says:
1. Take it to a GOOD Bass cl repairperson. The only one I know of lives in Virginia and raises DONKEYS. [grin]
2. Ask to observe what he/she does...The local guy, doing school conract work is two months behind and the best other one in Mason City 68 miles to the east, is much too busy to drop everything and let you hang over his shoulder. Me, I'd have more success winning the lottery and buying a new horn.

So Someone, if you also live in "never-never land" where Good Bsss cl repairpersons abound, then please do as Don says. If not, call the School Board and sit back and wait. Remember. IT"S THEIR HORN NOT YOURS.

Gently, Please, Bob - As we recognise you are in rural Iowa, I also am in rural Okla, 45 mi from Tulsa, 160 to OKC. It turns out that I am the only repairer here, and do recognise my limitations. Since most of our students asking for help, where their schools provide insts, MAY have a repairer fairly close, let's cool any rhetoric, Please. OK, Mark, C? Don

Thanx, Mark, Don

Hi Someone - There are a number of register key actuation structures, probably several differing ones for the Vitos [LeBlancs] over the years, so even the most skilled repairers need to know the model # and year of mfgr [serial #], and preferably have one of your type available so as to give any diagnosis here, I'm sure I cannot. Your problems could be as simple as a disconnected spring, bad or sticking pads, lack of coordination between the ?single? reg key-pad and the larger Bb key-pad, perhaps corking needed for proper opening/closing. SO, unless you are skillful re: analyzing these more complex-motion mechanisms, you will need to take your bass cl to a repairer to diagnose and adjust. Luck, Don

Thanx, Mark, Don

Could be something as simple as a bit of grunge on the register vent PAD which is causing the pad to stick --- try cleaning off the pad, maybe hold it down on a piece of waxy paper or a business card while pulling the card through.
