For all of us who have "equipment mania" and are continually looking for that perfect sound, I's suggest reading "Are Clarinetists the Audience?" by Brian Martin in the latest issue of "The Clarinet".

I'm going to try & get permission to reprint it on the ICA Web site.

Mark--I agree. That was an excellant artical. We do get "hung up" on producing that "perfect" sound (and try lots of sometimes expensive gimmics in its pursuit) when we should be more concerned about relating musically to our audience, most of whom are more concerned with hearing the right notes played in tune, with acceptable phrasings, than with "perfect" sound.
