On June 13th my E-11 was stolen. Any idea of what to do? It was stolen from my high school before class, but I highly doubt it was anyone from my band. I've filed a police report and contacted local pawn shops, but is there any organization that monitors stolen clarinets? Or does anyone know a good place to find another high end clarinet cheap?

I know a lot of people groan when you mention EBay, but I've had good luck with it, and you can get E-11's and comparable models at very low prices. Look at the pictures, ask questions, deal with Sellers who have a history of positive feedback, and you should do ok. Of course it doesn't hurt to leave soom room in your bidding in case the horn needs a little work after you get it. Sorry about your loss, but good luck finding another one.

You might want to ask sellers on e-bay about the serial numbers of the E-11's they are selling. You might even find yours and have the constabulary retrieve it for you!

I don't know anything about this new service, but it could be helpful as the "system" develops. As with all endeavors, it will only be useful if the "dealers" in the network are honest and dependable. A stolen instrument which is bought/sold outside the "network" would go undected. The company offers embeded microchip service through dealers. I'm not sure how that would work on a brass instrument.
