That book is great. It has much more than the other excerpt books, especially in terms of it's 'all in one' presentation. Also, the excerpts are not edited and have no errors (at least none that fly off the page) like many of the other excerpt books available. There is commentary accompanying every excerpt and the advice is sound and fundamental. When I studied with Larry Combs, he always had the book in his office, and often mentioned how impressed he was with Hadcock's insights into the works presented. It's a must have, in my opinion. The Working Clarinetist was a text that Hadcock gave to students of his Orchestral Clarinetist Seminar at Eastman. I distinctly remember that he did not want to have it published and as widely available as his Eb book. He wanted people to attend the seminar and hear what he had to say first hand. I was fortunate enough to attend the last summer he was able to teach it. It was the following fall that I learned of his passing. Tragic. He was way too young.
The book is a wealth of his tried and true methods. I don't know if it has been made available for sale, but I'd recommend getting a hold of a copy. I've looked up innumerable fingerings in it. Really helpful.
Wow, he was such a great guy and clarinetist.
