Ok...this is a little off the clarinet topic, but I've got a music business type question for all of you wizards out there.
On a business card for a group, under what circumstances should the names of the members be listed? I'm in a trio, and we had a discussion today about that which we weren't able to resolve. I can see with a duo you might wanna list the names. But obviously in a big band you don't. So what do you all here at good ol' Sneezy think?
Should all three of our names be on there? Or just a contact person? Or just the name of the band?
Thanks!
Katrina

The question might be; "How are you known?" If the name of the trio is well known, then you might be good to go with that. However, if any or all of you have personal followings, then the trio member names should be listed. Something along the lines of;
The 3 Stooges Trio
featuring the music of Moe, Larry and Curly
might work. (No offense meant, that was the first "trio" that popped into my mind!)

Katrina -
For a trio, the names of the performers are almost always listed. For woodwinds, the order is usally descending pitch: flute, oboe, clarinet, horn and bassoon (or sometimes flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and horn, to put the brass instrument after the woodwinds).
A violin, cello and piano trio is usually listed in that order, even though the group is often called a "piano trio" to distinguish it from a string trio (violin, viola and cello). However, the pianist's name sometimes comes first. This began when Arthur Rubinstein announced that he would never again take second billing. He said: "From now on, it will be Rubinstein, Heifetz and Piatigorsky. If God comes down to play violin, it will be Rubinstein, God and Piatigorsky."
Best regards.

Well, Ken,
This is not your normal trio. It's Violin, Clarinet, and Accordion.
At any rate, I suspect we will end up listing us on the business cards at some point, because of what both you and Jim have said.
Thanks for the advice!

gee violin, clarinet & accordion. You could go by rosin, reeds & reverb.
A clarinet card should be rolled up into a tube. An accordion card should be fan folded so you can squeeze it. Not sure how to customize a violin card.

Too funny, jim!!
But we already have a name...maybe that could be our "catch phrase!" We'd be "Trio Bez Ime-Rosin, Reeds, and Reverb!"
I LOVE it!
And BTW, we're working on the Kegelstatt Trio!
LOL!!!
