 tounging, intonation, and high register

After hanging around in this board for quite a time now......i certainly have gotten a lot of help....so thanks guys!!!1

But now for myself i have a problem in hand. Not quite a problem but something i would like to know clearly so i can explain to the new members of the clarinet section of the band.

Now firstly, why is tounging really so different in all 3 different registers? Why is it so difficult to practise tounging especially in the clarion register?
I have seen Ken's previous posts which was really helpful but i need to know more.

Secondly, what is the best way to handle intonation control in the high register? Thanks!!!!1

As for intonation control in the upper clarion and the altissimo, I think most of it can be done with a good ear and just lipping the notes up or down with your embouchre. Of course in the altissimo reg, there are MANY different fingerings available for most notes so you would want to plot a few fingerings that allow you to get the closes to the correct intonation (with a tuner) and also don't sacrifice the projection of the note (some fingerings will simply be "weaker" for you than others). Another thing I've noticed is that me personally, I tend to be sharp in the higher notes (high A, B, C, and then going into the altissimo) and I've learned to play these notes with a much looser embouchre than I used to. What I do is have my embouchre grow firmer and firmer the lower the note is. So the chalemeau(?) register I have a very firm embouchre and it's quite loose on the upper register. So loose that the mouthpiece is close to moving around or even falling out of my mouth if I didn't keep it there with my thumbs. I think it produces a sweeter tone for myself too. But this again depends on how you play. Practice long tones with a tuner and figure out what embouchre/fingering combination is best for you.

Well when it first started out........it seems that tounging the high notes (in a not so correct and matured way of course) will most of the time produce an uncertain note.
