How many bought his cork grease? I just got a bunch of his stuff in the mail today and I applied that stuff. Wow is it slippy, slick. Almost liquid. Should it be that way or more like jelly? How often do you apply? When I was using plain old cork grease or lanolin I had to apply at least more than once a month and still it wasn't enough.

There are two kinds of cork grease that I sell - Doctor Slick which is an all natural preparation of oils and waxes and uses a proprietary extract of slippery elm bark as the lubricant. It is applied about as often - perhaps a little less than petroleum based chap stick brands. Doctor Syntek is a NASA aerospace synthetic grease - like branded Alysn, but which has a very creamy soft butter like consistency. It is very slippery stuff. Once it penetrates the cork it is used very infrequently. Product claims are off limits for the BB.

I am sure that there are lots of reasons to use the synthetic stuff. I have been using the Dr. Slick wax based product. I use it almost every time I assemble the horn, although just a tiny dab. I doubt that it is necessary, but it smells so good a feels so good (and I hate replacing cork) so why not.
Questions for The Doctor: I occasionally use Dr. Slick as chapstick -- really, I prefer it to the petroleum stuff. Is there anything poisonous in it? Can I assume that you really shouldn't stick the synthetic stuff in your mout

I guess that I can answer this one - do not use the synthetic Doctor Syntek as chap stick. There is nothing harmful in Doctor Slick - the all natural product. I have a chap stick addiction myself and often use Doctor Slick when I have misplaced the other darn little tube.
