I'm partial to the Kleiber-conducted Brahms 4th--- can anyone suggest their favorite Brahms 1,2,3? Thanks!

Brahms 1 Karl Bohm Berlin in 59 on Dg or 64 Karajan
Brahms 2 Szell Cleveland or Bruno Walter
Brahms 3 Karajan vienna Decca in 61
I also think the whole cycle with Klemperer in the early 60s with the philharmonia is amazing!

Brahms are available with Klemperer as
Philharmonia London in Stereo sound
No. 1(with alto Rhapsody) Emi 67029
No 4 with Tragic Overture and Academic Fest. EMI67031
No 2 and 3EMI 67030. No 2 is pretty amazing. Four is the most unuual intetrepitation, incredibly smooth and nicely done. Not to some people's liking. If you like Brahms on the tough side, this is it!
These are my favorite as a set.

By far, my favorite recording of Brahms' first symphony is the one with Leonard Bernstein and the Wiener Philharmoniker. It's simply amazing.
