This is a follow-up to my previous post---I had a lot of fun reading the great responses! So.......
Design me two high fi systems--------------
1. 2500-2000 dollar range.
2. 1000 dollar range.
Both systems will be primarily for classical and chamber music listening---only CDs---no tapes or LPs.
You know your mission-----------------------

Sorry WJK, it is now time for you to get to the stereo store and do some listening with those two budget limits in mind. Ask a lot of questions and by the time you visit your third shop, you'll have a lot of the lingo down and can begin to get a real fix on what works for your ears and what does not work.
