Dear Freinds: Without going into too much detail (I was once fortunate enough to study with Mr. Blayman at a music camp in the mid 1980s).how is Mr. Blayman these days?
His mouthpieces are now available again as well!
Serious Blayman fan,
David Dow

Hello David,
Herb is living in North Carolina now, near his daughter. As you know, he retired from making his stands and mouthpieces a little over 2 years ago.

Woops. Since this was my first posting to this Bulletin Board, I think I may have inadvertently violated the rules. I should have read the rules BEFORE I responded to David's post.
Sorry for the plug. It won't happen again.
Sheepishly yours,

Thank you Randy for the posting. I think it is good to know Mr. Blayman is still going, he is a great influence on many players and his career in the Met is one of the most magnificent in the annals of music. I heard him perform at the met a few of times and was amazed at the magnicent expression and tone he had.
I doubt he would rember me as I only took a few lessons from him at a summer music school quite a long time ago, but many of his ideas and ideals inspired me to go on as clarinetist. Herbert Blayman is also a fine gentleman and endeared himself to many people let alone musicians.
Best Wishes
David Dow
