I was very suprised to not see the Grabner mouthpieces for sale in a very reputable store in NYC.
Please share your comments with reed strength on his:
CXZ_AW and CXZ_SW1 and the FatBody Cocobolo barrel 66m and 65mm
Someone said they got his mouthpiece for under $100. I see it priced at $99!
Any principles or soloists here use them?

Walter's webpage (see side lobe for sponsor's list) says his mouthpieces are going to be listed in the next WW&BW catalogue, and "They are played in professional orchestras and at leading music schools around the world, including the U.S., Canada, Mexico, England, Scotland, Belgium, Sweden, Switzerland, Australia, Japan and Korea." I would imagine he would be pleased to give you a listing if asked, unless his customers would object. I have two, the CW_AX and the CXBB and am more than pleased with them. But I am not even a "gifted" player, just a noodler.

I visited Walter's home in Lake Forrest, IL last spring and he was very helpful to me in my selection of a new Buffet Prestige clarinet (which he played, approved, and I later purchased) and a new mouthpiece (which I played, approved and purchased "on the spot"). I choose his "CX BS" model, which is basically a Selmer C* that he customizes to his own specs. The mouthpiece works for me and enables my bass clarinet to "sing" in all registers--and I highly recommend it!!
Also, Walter is am amazing bass clarinetist in his own right (he offers lessons), and is truely one of the "good guys" out there in the customization mouthpiece world. (The same can also be said of Gregory Smith, BTW--except that he usually plays the little clarinets and specializes in their mpcs) Walter also showed me some "really good" customization work that he does on clarinets, as well as a bass clarinet stand (which he has only built for himself, thus far) that holds his low C bass in perfect playing position, attaching only to the bell. (Unfortunately, he is of pro basketball heigth and the stand does not work for people less naturally vertically endowed, such as myself)
He also designs soprano mouthpieces from Zinner blanks which (I am guessing) would be worth trying as well. Check out his info in The Classifieds!!!!
