Hello. This clarinet is marked H P on all sections except the mouthpiece, and the leather case is dated July 1895. Any help as to what it is and value will be most appreciated. Thanks

I'm surprised that none of our more knowledgable "collectors" have responded, so I'll try. In case you dont already know, the H[igh] P[itch] 455+/- cps, era and insts died about 1900, and low pitch of about 435 was widely, but not universally, adopted. Since that time our "usual" orchestral [and other inst] pitch has been widely adopted at 440 cps [Hertz], and is now inching its way toward 442 and maybe more!! So, HP cls are only collector items, since they are about a 1/2 tone high [or low] and therefore not of serious use. Sorry, low value, fun to get acquainted with, but cant be played with other "modern" insts. Other ?s ?, what make is it? Don
Thanx, Mark, Don
