Mabey someone can answer a somewhat bizarre question. I have been playing a Vandoren M13 which I was told was based on the old Chedeville mouthpiece. I played a chedeville recently and thought it looked like a couple of old Buffet stock pieces I have laying around. I mentioned this to a friend and he replied that Chedeville did indeed make mouthpieces for Buffet. Any truth to this?

Mike...This question has been asked and answered pretty thoroughly in past posts. If you do a search under "chedeville buffet" (no quotes) you will have much to read - some of it quite insightful.
Happy reading...GBK

I've found very few Buffet mouthpieces that I think are Chedeville blanks. If the others are Cheds, then they were finished incorrectly (ie, too wide at the throat, too deep at the baffle going into the bore, etc) and not worth working on. If they seem to play well for you, or seem to have potential, you may want to get them worked on. (No, I'm not looking for business right now- I'm hopelessly behind, having been sick and unable to play much for the past month.) I've seen the excellent work of Lee Livingood, Brad Behn, and John Weigand, and have heard good things about Walter Grabner's work, so you may want to try them.

Can you tell I've been searching for info on BC mps?
Well, I am the lucky new owner of misc clarinet parts. Included was a couple of mouthpieces, with one being a BC.
To the right of the reed table, is stamped a G, followed by a crown. Does this mean anything? On the front, above the BC logo is one white line, with 3 below it. For some reason it is a green/gray color under that.
Anyone know anything about this?

deblcooper ... I'm certain you have a C crown, not a G.
The Buffet/Chedeville 1 line up/3 lines down mouthpiece has been discussed in depth on this board.
The present facing on it may or may not be finished. Chances are it is a quality blank that could be turned into a nice mouthpiece.
A search under the above terms or "C crown" will probably give you more than you can read in one sitting...GBK

Go buy a hand-made mouthpiece from one of the living makers or send your current project piece in for an adjustment...
The slope before you is slippery, and leads to the abyss.

I recently acquired two used C crowns in good condition and like them both very much, though they don't play exactly the same, but close. Actually, I had no intention of getting two, but the second one (for $17.50 on ebay, plus shipping) was too good to pass up, given how much I liked the first.
