 Marcellus Recording of Berg Quartet
Author: DAVE

I just found this recording on a CD of the complete works of Berg. Has anyone else heard of this? He really sounds nice on this recording. By the way it is for clarinet, tenor sax, violin, and piano. There's also some interesting music with bass clarinet and one piece for voice, E-flat clarinet, and guitar!!

DAVE...I believe you mean the Webern Quartet (op.22), not the Berg Quartet.

The Webern Quartet, Opus 22, was written for piano, violin, clarinet, and tenor saxophone..GBK

Sorry, I meant Webern; I get those two mixed up.

i played the Berg piece for sop, guitar and e flat clarinet at a festival some year ago- fabulous music.... i'd love to get this CD, what is the code # and label????
by the way- when i played this piece i was given a full score that was not in fact transposed..... so after i'd learn't it on E flat clarinet (at the wrong pitch) i discovered i needed to learn it again from the E flat part. Well, i cheated and played it on the C clarinet (from the full score) which involved a few hairy high notes.
great music

Donald,
I found this CD on amazon looking for Marcellus recordings. I don't know which CD it is; I checked it out from the library and have since returned it. I cannot imagine the pain you must have been in playing the piece for E flat, sop., and guitar on C clarinet. There are some really high and sustained notes in that piece.

i don't remember it going any higher than a C (three octaves above middle C).... but i remembered why i couldn't use the Eflat- i had lent it to someone who flew off to Japan for the summer!
thanks for the Sony order number.
