I'm looking for recommendations on music for voice (mezzo-soprano or soprano) and clarinet (w/ or w/o piano). We've played Parto, Parto already. I've looked on Luyben, but there's so much I don't know what's worth the $$$.
Thanks!!!

I recall a beautiful duet in "Tales of Hoffman" 2nd/3rd act I believe. There should be some in Mozart's later operas, perhaps in R Strauss' Rosenkavalier? Don

I will second the recommendations for Schubert and Spohr and also highly recommend:
Vaughan-Williams, "Three Vocalises"
Jacob, "Three Songs"
Both are fun to perform and crowd-pleasers.
Best regards,
jnk

There's one little cavatina that surprisingly does not appear in the woodwind.org database :-
"Romanze" from Schubert's one act opera "Die Verschworenen"
It's a lovely piece and a nice one to end a recital on - poss as an encore.
It's easy and has a lot of melodic interplay between the 3 parts.
My copy is on Oxford University Press and arr by Fritz Spiegl - may be out of print now. Let me know if you have trouble sourcing it.

There's also a work by Copland for voice, clarinet, flute, and piano. It's been years since I played it for a faculty recital in Colorado, but the title was something like "As it Fell Upon a Day." And there's also Three Songs Gordon Jacob piece for soprano voice and clarinet in A.
My copy of the Copland is published by Boosey & Hawkes, Inc. and the Jacob is published by Oxford University Press, London.
Cheers,
Mitch King

Webby,
For something incredibly dramatic and a challenge for all three players check out "Ariel" by Ned Rorem for soprano, clarinet and piano.

I played the Arnold Cooke, "Three Songs of Innocence" on my undergraduate college recital with an female alto vocalist. We both enjoyed the music. BTW--it is scored for A clarinet, but I transposed it on my Bb (didn't own an A yet).
