 I keep making G with high D fingering

When I play high D without tonguing, I can play it fine. But if I tongue it, it often comes out as a crappy high G, or start as a D and quickly change to a G. I've tried and tried to change my embochure, clarinet angle, reed position, tongue position, etc., and nothing helps. When I have to play those high notes staccato in the symphony band, I have to resort to using my throat to seperate the notes to keep from ruining the music. Other than the notes above high C I can tongue fine; even high C just barely makes an undertone.

I'm using a new Hite Premiere mouthpiece, Vito Resotone clarinet, Bonade inverted ligature, and V-12 reeds.

I really dont have a ready solution for this one.....

When fingering the high D- do you use the right pinky on the Eb key as well? I kno this is optional , so it might work.....

It won't help much you but I think you're getting an overtone from the low Bb3.
I think it's the 7th harmonic which would be a very flat Ab and it's emerging as something like a G. The high D is a harmonic of the low Bb which, essentially, is fingered the same of the low Bb, minus the top finger hole.

Another reed? Another mouthhpiece? Leaks?
Try getting that high "G6" when fingering Bb3. You will have to force it. Then try it fingering F5. It will come out easier.

Will this help you? I don't know for sure but it will give you an understanding of how all of those upper notes are based, to a large extent, on the chalemeau. When you use your throat, you're pampering the altissimo regester, thus you have a better chance of it not happening.

DO NOT use your throat as a solution.

I tried my grandson's Vito with a Hite Premier mpc. and Gonzales F.O.F. 3 1/2 and 3 3/4 (comparable profile to the V-12) and and found the fingering you mentioned (which is an alternate G# fingering) easily produced an altissimo G# for me when I raised my tongue toward the reed a bit. It was especially ready to flip to the harmonic G# when the Eb key was used by the right pinky. The altissimo D didn't really need the Eb key for a well tuned D (for me). If you are using the Eb key, try not using it, keeping your tongue low in your mouth and using lots of good air support and a good stong embouchure (not a biting one).

Also, if you are getting a G instead of a G# that may be an indication of a need to get some work done on the clarinet or a slack embouchure. Have an experienced clarinetist with a good embouchure try the clarinet and see what they think.
