I like the Reed Wizard a lot. It really does improve reeds. Ben's book "Perfecta Reed and Beyond" has some great information, and is worth buying. You can find info on the Sneezy sponsor's page.

I, too, have one and also his book. Yes, it helps and takes much of the 'work' out of adjusting a reed. It's not 100% infalible. It takes a bit getting used to so practice on many reeds before you attempt those from a newly opened box of Vandorens, etc.
I also have and use the books by Opperman and Pino.
Also know that you can buy alot of reeds for $300.

It takes about thirty seconds to do a reed. Reed Wizard removes material from the reed to profile and balance it. If the reed is too thin in certain areas, to start with, then obviously you can't add material to it to give a correct profile. In this case the reed is likely useless anyway.

You use the Reed Wizard to improve a particular reed. I did not mean that you should start with a stronger reed. A #3.5 reed will still be a #3.5 reed after using the Reed Wizard.
The Reed Wizard does the job it claims to do. I recommend it, if it's price is acceptable to you.
