I have an A clarinet on trial, and I looked at the sneezy clarinet seriel number things, and this A dated 1931. Is this any good? It plays good, but should I be cautious?

If it plays good and the price is acceptable, then I'd say go for it. I wouldn't pay as much for one that old as a Series 10 though.

It was from a fellow student of mine, who got it as a gift when she was younger. She didn't know the value, nor did I at the time.

I have and play on a Selmer Bb made in the late 20's and my wife has a Balanced Tone that I restored for her made in 1933. She wouldn't take a million bucks for her BT. As far as the "Brevete" that I play when teaching, it plays fantastic and well in tune in all registers. It is a little above A=440, about A=442, but I think it does very well. I don't use it full time, but could!
