R-13 overhaul

I have a Buffet R-13 that I bought about four years ago. Besides just needing to have the pads replaced, I would like to get an overhaul done to fix some of the intonation problems and uneveness. There are some so-so music stores where I live that have repair shops, but I'm looking for something a little more extensive. Can anyone recommend a good place to look?

You can give Francois Kloc at Buffet in Chicago a call. He's fixed intonation and uneveness problems on many a Buffet clarinet for free. Can't hurt!

If you wanna pay an arm and a leg plus a few organs, Tim Clark, Clark Fobes, and Brannen Woodwinds do fine work. I know Tim Clark usually has a waiting list several months long. (aside: Last summer at the Ohio ClarinetFest, a friend of mine scheduled a time to send his horns to Tim about 5 months after ClarinetFest.) Brannen is probably similar. I'm not sure about Clark's schedule.. and i think he's a bit less expansive as the others.

I personally use a repair guy in Davenport, IA. An overhaul for an R-13 only costs around $300 or so and he usually does more work than required for a standard overhaul. Last Spring, i sent my Selmer Mark VII alto in for a repad... about a $230 job. And he sent it back with about $475 in repairs that i never knew it needed (and some i knew it needed but weren't terribly crucial at the time) at no additional charge. I had my clarinet in and out in just over a week (shipping to and from Houston, TX included in the time frame), and my sax in and out in two.

Someone on the klarinet list said that Clark Fobes had stopped doing repair work and was just making his barrels and mouthpieces (and playing of course). Too bad.
