Hello
I was wondering what excerpts were on that orchestral excerpt CD that is narrated by Mr. Combs.
Many thanks

I don't recommend it. I got the CD and I was disappointed. He definitely sounds better behind an orchestra. I also didn't agree with some of his interpretations. In my opionion, there's no better guide to excerpts than the recordings of the Cleveland Orchestra under Szell with Robert Marcellus.

The orchestral excerpts CD by Larry Combs is really quite good, but you have to get beyond the hall that he's playing in, realize that no excerpt sounds as good as when played IN the orchestra. You might notice his beautiful legato and clear tone. I think the Afternoon of a Faun is really well done. For me playing excerpts in the orchestra is always easier.
