 Tenor recorder vibrato...

Not a lot to do with fingering I'll grant you, but I wondered if anyone could give me some advice on getting warm sounding vibrato on a recorder? I've heard it done, but don't know how! :)

Cheers,

Brigs :)

There are three ways of getting vibrato on a recorder:

- fingering - you can lower the pitch very slightly by covering some open holes which are a long way from the rest of your fingers. Do this rapidly to get vibrato

- embouchure - shape your mouth to say waw waw waw while you blow

- diaphragm - this is the hardest and the best. It involves varying the strength of your breathing by pulsing your breathing muscles.
