 Numbers on Charts

Old guys ask dumb questions..so what do the numbers in the note name charts mean? Use with G5 or B4.

C4 in one note notation system (the one we use for the charts) annotates middle C - the C one line below the treble clef, the 4th C on a piano keyboard. All the notes above that until you get to the 5th C on the keyboard are annotated the same way D4, E4, etc., all the way up to B4. The next note would be the 5th C on the piano, so we label it C5, and it'd be the 3rd space C on the treble clef.
