I just bought a helmke tenor. I also play alto ( buescher trutone) and bari (Conn). THe helmke was cheap, but I bought it because of the SOUND. I played it, compared it to 4 other horns, some new, some vintage. It was SPOT ON intonationwise. Is it a pro horn. NO. Will many repair shops work on it? NO. would I buy one online without playing it? NO!!!! But I bought it from a repair guy and he says he can keep it going. So far I am very pleased and it SOUNDS GREAT. isnt that what we want from a sax?
