Okay, I've been playing flute for five years and haven't EVER ever ever come across anything like this... I am playing Sleigh Ride in band--(we're jazz-haha marchers!!:])--but anyway we have this trill that our instructor says we must do, yet I haven't the foggiest how to do it. The Sleigh Ride song and part, if you want to look it up for whatever reason is SLEIGH RIDE, by LEROY ANDERSON, 1st flute part. Well, on the paper, I see the high "f"(perched on the 3 leisure lines above the staff) and a tr~ right above it. nothing else. Well, I think that I had that one figured out. But then, There are these F's (top line) that are slurred with a G(top line) with the little tr~ thing above it.(the f is accented and the G is staccato). Then there is the high B-FLAT slurred with a G(top line) in the same style. [I certainly hope that I am being descriptive enough].Then there is an A slurred with an F in the same style. Then I do it again, but with an A-FLAT tr~ slurred with the top line F. the I do it all AGAIN!! Then I get a slurred E-FLAT to D tr~~, then I get to do THAT again! See what I said about impossible?!?!?The clarinets have figured out most of thiers, and it sounds pretty cool. So, us BIG MIGHTY FLUTES HAVE TO PROVE THAT WE CAN DO IT TOO!!!
Well, I hope that I didn't trouble you too much---
Love,
THE FLUTE FANATIC,
Indigo
