hey, has anyone ever had to play the solo "concertpiece" by pierne for an audition on bassoon? it's my region band solo piece this year, so i was just wondering if anyone had any tips.

i'm really hoping they won't ask me to play the few bars that are written in treble clef, but i'm not too worried because their not in the main part of the song. i'm guessing that i'll be asked for part of either of the first two pages.

still have to work on my tenor clef though... reading tenor is annoying, but something all bassoonists have to learn at some point or other...

I agree with you about tenor clef; we have an ensemble piece by Fernando Sor and I'm playing the horn in F, transposed for the bassoon. The middle section is in tenor clef, and I said to myself, "I'm going to read this thing and not re-write it," but after a couple of practices and one disastrous session with the ensemble, I'm about to go back on my promise and re-write the section in bass clef. I'm finding it just too mind-boggling, what with the high notes AND trying to read tenor clef. Probably if I don't re-write it, I'll have the darned section memorized before I actually manage to read it properly.
