What is the best fingering to achieve a slur between 2nd octave F and 3rd octave F?

On my Marigaux 901... this is the fingering I use:

3rd octave key, half hole X O A flat key.

Similiarly ... the E is 3rd octave key, half hole, X X A flat key.

F# can also be played 3rd octave, half hole, O O A flat key.

It may or may not work on all Oboes.

That's the fingering I use as well, although on my Marigaux I find that the full fingering is very resistant anyway.

I think the use if the third octave key is what helps the jump between the two Fs, so if you can find a suitable fingering on your instrument that utilises this key, it should pop out easily.

Have you experimented with the fingerings on http://www.wfg.woodwind.org/ ?

I use the same fingering as Mark except that I don´t use half-hole for F#.
(F#: X 0 0 A flat key)

I have always been taught to just learn to used the forked F (then left fingering for the altissimo).

I resisted using the fork F for ages because of its windy sound on my Lorée. Now that Laubin (Teitelbaum) fixed it up so wonderfully, I find the forked F to be the most amazing invention!
